The Scars podcast.

Transforming scars into symbols of hope.

The Scars is a deeply personal project about the stories behind our scars.

I’ve had scars since I was seven years old, after an accident that left lasting marks on my arms, legs and back. For a long time, I didn’t talk about them. I covered them up, I tried to forget they were there. But over the years, I’ve come to realise that these scars are not something to hide. They are reminders of survival, strength, and the messy, beautiful process of healing. And I know I’m not alone in feeling that.

I wanted to create a space where we can talk about scars, a place where we can honour the stories they hold and celebrate the resilience they represent.

A standout moment in every episode is the “Letter to My Scars” – an intimate, moving reflection where guests explore what their scars have taken, what they’ve given, and how they’ve shaped their lives.

With new episodes dropping monthly, The Scars podcast is here to create a space for real talk, connection, and community – a place where everyone can feel seen, heard, and empowered to embrace their own story.

The Scars is produced by Suzi Dale and sound design is by the talented Micky Curling and my beautiful illustrations are by Nichola Cowdery.

For support, there are lots of organisations out there, including The Scar Free Foundation and Changing Faces.

**I’m so proud to share that The Scars is a 2025 Gold Winner at the Audio Production Awards for Lifestyle & Society, and also won the Independent Podcast Award for Best Self Improvement Podcast 🏆

The show has received three nominations at the Independent Podcast Awards, and two nominations at the International Women’s Podcast Awards 2025 (Moment of Absolute Honesty and Moment of Pure Emotion).**
